Character Series: Painting was the one stabilizing part of my early youth. Lacking consistent role models and strong parental figures, I looked to dynamic characters from fiction and history for answers. Now, considered an adult, I have chosen to represent these characters in a way that depicts their impact on my development. Take, for example, the story of Superman, for me, was a strong model for handling responsibility because of his existential struggle with wielding immense power. Hence, he is placed in the center of the image with a composed, yet tense face.
When viewing each of these works, consider akin to Superman, what these characters might have represented to me and what they may represent to you.
